Counselling Options

Choosing the right format for counselling can feel daunting, especially if it’s your first time. At Skyla Counselling, I offer both face-to-face and online sessions, so you can select the option that feels safest, most comfortable, and convenient for you.

Face-to-Face Counselling in Tewkesbury

What it is:
Face-to-face counselling takes place in person at my practice in The Reflection Rooms, Barton Street, Tewkesbury. Meeting in the same room allows us to build a relationship through shared presence, non-verbal communication, and immediate connection.

How it works:
Sessions are usually weekly or fortnightly at a consistent time and last 50 minutes. Being in the same room allows us to communicate not just through words, but also through tone, facial expressions, and body language—helpful when finding the right words is difficult.

Benefits:

  • Builds trust and connection through shared space

  • Non-verbal cues enhance understanding

  • Provides a neutral, safe environment away from home life

  • Private, undisturbed sessions

  • No technology setup or technical concerns

Things to consider:

  • Can you travel to the practice regularly?

  • Would the convenience of online counselling be preferable?

Online Counselling

What it is:
Online counselling allows you to meet via a secure video platform from your home or another private space. It provides flexibility while still offering a safe, confidential, and supportive environment.

How it works:
Sessions are usually weekly or fortnightly at a consistent time and last 50 minutes. You can connect via computer, tablet, or smartphone, with guidance provided to make setup simple. You will still be able to see and hear me clearly, and we can communicate openly about your experiences and feelings.

Benefits:

  • Flexible and convenient, fitting around work, family, or other commitments

  • Comfort of your own space may help you feel more at ease

  • Accessible for those with mobility issues or living outside Tewkesbury

  • Continuity of counselling even if you move, travel, or need to self-isolate

  • Secure, confidential sessions via encrypted platform

Things to consider:

  • Do you have a quiet, private space for sessions?

  • Are you comfortable using video technology?

  • Would attending from home make it easier to participate regularly?

Making the Choice

Whether you choose face-to-face or online counselling, the most important thing is that the option feels right for you. If you’re unsure, we can discuss your needs during a free 15–20 minute phone call. This initial call is a no-pressure opportunity to get to know each other, ask questions, and decide which option will best support your wellbeing.
