Things you might want to know

Are you a qualified therapist/counsellor?

Yes, I hold a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and am a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy). Membership with the BACP is only granted after qualification and ensures counselling is delivered safely, ethically, and professionally.

I’ve had counselling before — will this be different?
It’s common to have tried counselling before and found it helpful, yet still feel that familiar patterns or responses remain. My approach builds on what you already know about yourself, helping understanding turn into meaningful change. We work collaboratively, at a pace that feels manageable, with a clear focus on progress that feels steady, grounded, and lasting.

What happens in a typical session?
Counselling is different for everyone, but usually we start by talking about what’s on your mind and how you’re feeling. We’ll explore patterns, thoughts, and experiences in a way that feels manageable, and you remain in control of what we focus on. Some sessions may feel reflective, others more practical — it depends on what feels most helpful for you.

I don’t know what to talk about — is that okay?
Absolutely. You don’t need to have everything figured out before starting. Counselling is a space to explore what’s on your mind and begin making sense of your experiences. Sometimes simply being heard and understood can be a powerful first step.

How long will it take to notice a difference?
There’s no fixed timeline — every person’s journey is unique. Some clients notice shifts in perspective or confidence after a few sessions, while others experience change more gradually. The work is collaborative, so we regularly check in on your goals and progress to ensure counselling feels meaningful.

What is your availability?
I currently have some slots available. If that changes, I will update this page. My working hours are as follows:

  • Tuesday: Afternoon & Evening

  • Wednesday: All day

  • Thursday: All day

Do I have to work solely online or solely face-to-face with you?
No. I can offer a flexible, blended approach to meet your needs. It’s important that wherever you choose to work — online or in person — the space is private and free from distractions.

Do I have to commit to a minimum number of sessions?
No, there’s no minimum commitment. However, talking therapy is generally not a quick fix, and there’s no "magic number" of sessions. The length of therapy depends on your individual needs and goals, which we can discuss during our initial phone call.

Do I have to pay for the initial call?
No, the 15–20 minute introductory call is free. It’s an opportunity for both of us to get to know each other, ask questions, and see whether working together feels right — with no pressure to commit.

What happens if I want to start counselling with you?
First, get in touch via phone or email to arrange the free introductory call. If we both feel comfortable moving forward, I’ll send an assessment form for you to complete in advance. The final step is to schedule our first session, either face-to-face or online.

When do I have to pay for my sessions?
Payment is due by 10pm on the day of your session. You can pay via BACS (bank transfer) either before or after your session, or by card during the session. Full details will be provided before we start.

What happens if I need to cancel a session?
Please give at least 48 hours’ notice via email or text. If notice is given, there is no charge. If not, the full session fee will be due.

Do you work with couples, families, or children under 18?
No, I don’t offer counselling for couples, families, or under-18s, but I can refer you to other counsellors who do.

Do you offer flexibility for shift workers or irregular schedules?
Where possible, I will accommodate your needs. Please discuss your commitments during our initial conversation.
