Welcome to Skyla Counselling

Are you feeling held back by the way you are living your life?
Do you feel caught in familiar patterns, overwhelmed by expectations, or unsure how things ended up this way.
I will support you to understand yourself more fully and make changes that feel right for you.
You might be coping on the surface while feeling disconnected, exhausted, or frustrated underneath, wishing life could feel calmer and more manageable.
I work with clients to talk openly about what’s really going on, make sense of how they got here, and understand themselves more fully. Together, we will explore the patterns that no longer serve you — such as people-pleasing, self-doubt, or over-responsibility — so you can begin to make choices that feel more aligned, grounded, and sustainable.
Many of my clients struggle with feeling “not good enough”, questioning their decisions, or carrying a constant pressure to meet others’ needs. Over time, this can leave you feeling stuck or disconnected from yourself. Through our work, clients often begin to feel clearer about what matters to them, more confident in their choices, and less driven by old habits.
If you’ve had counselling before
You may have had counselling in the past that helped you understand yourself better, yet still feel that something hasn’t quite shifted. Familiar patterns may continue to show up, even when you know where they come from.
Thinking about starting again — especially with someone new — can feel like a big step. The work we do is guided by your goals and focused on helping you move forward, while still respecting your pace. For some people, earlier counselling offered insight without leading to lasting change. This doesn’t mean anything went wrong. Sometimes a different focus or way of working helps understanding turn into meaningful progress. My approach builds on what you already know about yourself, with you staying in control of what we explore, while working purposefully towards change.
When past experiences still affect the present
If past experiences or difficult events continue to shape how you feel, think, or respond, this may show up as anxiety, emotional overwhelm, relationship difficulties, or a sense of being on edge. I am trauma-trained and work in a way that focuses on what feels manageable in the present, while gently making sense of the past when you’re ready.
Clients often describe this work as helping them feel steadier, more emotionally grounded, and better able to respond rather than react — with greater clarity and trust in themselves.
I have also worked with clients experiencing misophonia, supporting them to understand their triggers, develop practical strategies, and regain a sense of calm and control in daily life.
Taking the next step
Starting counselling can feel daunting, especially if these patterns have been part of your life for a long time. I offer a free 15–20 minute introductory call, giving you the chance to talk things through, ask questions, and see whether working together feels right — with no pressure to commit.
Take your time exploring my website, and feel free to get in touch when you’re ready.
